The Woodhouse Day Spa in north Bethesda, Maryland:
This full service day spa absolutely blew me away. I can 1,000% see why it was recently voted Best Day Spa in Bethesda Magazines’ 2019 poll. No exaggeration- it is the best spa I’ve ever been to, for a number of reasons.
The building was designed ground up to be the perfect day spa– forget taking over an empty space and making it work, this space is perfection (and words/photos don’t do it justice). The kind Owner, Peter Dychkewich, gave me an informative tour of the well laid out space which consists of one big loop of 18 treat-yo’self rooms (including 4 mani pedi chairs), where you can relax under the vichy shower after a lavender seaweed sugar glow, unwind with a therapeutic stone massage, rewind time with a youth enhancing HydraFacial– a $30k machine that removes toxins from your skin and replaces it with the good stuff that makes u look young(!), soak in a eucalyptus bath if you feel under the weather… There are over 70 spa services to choose from.
The spa resembles an english manor, with its dramatic sconces, ornate chandeliers and 8 ft tall solid mahogany 200 lb doors (offering total silence), creating the most comfortable and luxurious vibe.
The spa team was so kind and accommodating– each person I met was incredibly pleasant and made me feel right at home. Champagne while I lounge in this super soft robe on the comfiest fleece blanketed chair in the chandelier adorned quiet room? Suuuure.
Prior to receiving the BEST deep tissue massage (no joke) I’ve ever had, with the professional and highly skilled Kristina, I was able to enjoy the plush quiet room while nibbling on snacks. After my muscles had been perfectly tended to, and I was thoroughly relaxed, I obviously returned to the quiet room to soak up more relaxation time and sip champagne. I’m not sure how long you can linger till you are nudged to leave, but I will test this out next time hah. I would love to spend an entire day lounging after a couples massage or body scrub.
The spa offers the ability to rent out the large room for events (a law firm recently booked it), where Seasons 52 caters a full service menu. The smaller “Duet Room”, with its dazzling crystal chandelier, can be rented out for a smaller party, perfect for 8-10 girls– a great idea for sorority gatherings, bachelorette festivities, girls’ day..
I can’t wait to return to the spa, and I must test out the popular vichy shower, which is apparently usually booked. Good news for you guys– if you win the sugar glow giveaway, you will be able to experience the vichy!
