Merriweather Lakehouse Hotel and The Pearl Spa– a perfect D.C. area getaway idea!
We absolutely adored our stay at this stunning luxury lakeside hotel. The gorgeous views, attention to detail, upscale dining, refreshing day spa, welcoming fireside lounge spaces, inviting bar area, and lakeside walking trails make this a winning getaway spot. And, if it’s this pretty in the winter, I cannot wait to see it in the spring and summer!! Apparently the rooftop pool is the spot to watch the fireworks, and outdoor activities are offered, like yoga by the lake.
Our room was spacious, clean and comfy, with a lovely balcony and tranquil lake views. The boo and I are picky about hotel beds, and this one was actually very comfortable, and the four-poster bed made it feel more like a home than a hotel.
If you’d like even more space, select one of the six 400 square-foot Junior Suites, or the 800 square-foot Presidential Suite.
Or, if you’re feeling really boujee, there’s also a 1,800+ square feet Penthouse on the 10th floor, with a full kitchen and baby grand piano.
The Rookery Bar & Lounge is so pretty and welcoming, and the cocktails are scrumptious. The hotel has done a beautiful job creating aesthetically pleasing community spaces that are both beautiful and inviting. Unlike most hotels, where the open spaces seem to be wasted, this gives me ski lodge/après ski vibes, as if everyone is excited to gather in the room to unwind and take in the ambiance & view with a specialty cocktail and farm-to-table bite.
The Lak restaurant closely partners with Columbia’s local farm culture to create fresh, seasonal menu items from scratch, serving up classic American flavors. And there’s a new menu each month– I love when restaurants switch it up and keep it fresh!
A spa day is a must. The 27,000 square-foot Pearl Spa has a modern meditation room, crystal salt room, thermal Healing Waters, and much more, all within steps of the lake.
I highly recommend trying out the Wellness Passport at The Pearl Spa. The four hour passport includes a mind-body movement or meditation class, a one-hour session in the Healing Waters, one Element Experience session and one 25-minute session in The Great Abyss. Just a heads-up, though, Saturdays can be a bit busy, as this spot is becoming increasingly popular.
There are also miles of walking trails around the 27-acre lake, and a beautiful 24-hour gym equipped with pelotons, in case you feel so inclined after thoroughly enjoying the hotel’s fresh, house-made pastries!
The Merriweather Post Pavilion is walking distance from the hotel, making this spot a perfect retreat for concert-goers! The hotel even provides a “Midnight Munchies” during concert season, as well as VIP shuttle service to and from concerts.
It’s also a beautiful event space, available for cocktail hours, wedding ceremonies, conferences..
