Happy 2015!!

Jan 1, 2015 | Fashion, Lifestyle

Yess, another year complete, and another reason to celebrate.  Woohooo, happy New Year, everyone!!  I hope 2014 brought positive change and plenty of laughter.

Going into 2015, let’s all let loose, try new things, and enjoy the moment.  For a start, I suggest wearing that quirky clothing item that you mistakenly think you can’t pull off.  It’s all in the attitude, my friend.

Here are a few new years resolutions that are important to me, that I think can apply to anyone:

1) Set aside time for yourself, and get to know you.  My favorite way to do this is by solo hiking.  Get that fresh air, catch some rays, and explore all on your own.  The more comfortable you are with yourself, and the more you understand yourself, the better you will be in relating to others.

2) Find more time for family and friends.  Your support group is what carries you through life.  Make sure you are giving back just as much as you are receiving.  Make an effort to show your love and appreciation for all those that you are lucky enough to have in your life.

Plan a fun outing with your parents (or whole family)..not because it’s someone’s birthday, but because family is a blessing, and you should treasure your moments together.  You could go to a museum, IMAX movie, dessert tour, bowling, vineyard, bike ride, comedy show, picnic, hike, historic mansion tour… Or do your own wine/beer/hot chocolate tasting at home, over hours of home videos (little nuggets!).

3) Don’t beat yourself up about the past…it’s in the past.   Choose to move forward, free of regret, with a can-do attitude.  Optimistic thinking goes a long way.  Simply smiling (even when you don’t feel like it) actually makes you feel happier.  It’s a brand new year..it can be a brand new you, too.

4) Find some sort of interest outside of work.  It’s nice to feel like you are creating, doing, accomplishing..  When all your time is spent on one thing (sitting in an office chair for hours on end ahhhhhh), and there isn’t much to show for it other than a roof over your head, it’s hard to feel satisfied with life.  There can be so much monotony in the daily grind, and it’s far too easy to get sucked into the same old routine.  Choosing one day of the week where you will do that thing that makes you happy, is a start.

If you don’t know what your other interests are, explore them.  Join that rock climbing group, pick up a camera, read those book-club selections, cook your way through your shiny new cookbook, take those sewing lessons or dance classes, find that extra comfy coffee shop nook where the ideas flow..

Happy 2015 everybody, make it a good one!
