“I’ma Take Your Grandpa’s Style”

Jan 22, 2014 | Fashion

I’ma take your grandpa’s style, I’ma take your grandpa’s style.  No for real, ask your grandpa, Can I have his hand-me-downs?  Macklemore gets it.  Similar to “granny-chic”, this outfit embodies the satisfying twist of elderly dressing made young.

My absolute favorite part of this outfit is my grandfather’s western bolo tie.  It makes for the perfect unique piece to polish off an outfit.  Until this little gem fell into my hands, I hadn’t given much thought to bolo ties.   They’re pretty funny really– they seem a bit more like a necklace than a tie, and their delicate beauty is surprising, considering their western origin (macho, rugged men).  But hey-  I’m glad men can enjoy the pleasures of accessorizing too!

My next fave is the Mr. Roger’s-like cardi.  It seems so aged, yet so natural paired with a classic oxford and blue jeans.  Granted it’s not oversized like most grandpa sweaters, but it achieves that same comfortable quirkiness.  Go for overtly dated pieces mixed with everyday items.. it welds the outfit into one solid look.
