Paddywax Candle Bar Georgetown DC

Paddywax Candle Bar D.C.:

Alexi and I absolutely LOVED our day-date at the adorbz Paddywax Candle Bar @paddlewaxcandlebar , an experiential retail space where you can sip, pour, and shop!! The new Georgetown location is now open! (This is the 2nd location to open in the DC area, after the Reston location, and there are 9 other locations around the U.S.)

At Paddywax, you can spend quality time together making your own custom candles, or just pop in to the gorgeous, zen space to shop the goods.  They carry so much more than (beautiful, yummy smelling) candles, like funny birthday cards, notebooks, jewelry, flask bottles.. And if you attend a candle pouring class you can get 2O% off all products in the retail shop!

The candles were easy-peasy to make, and sipping mimosas during the process certainly added to the fun.

My favorite part about the experience was being able to customize my candle by selecting my vessel and fragrance from walls of options.  The class is split in half during this selection process so that one side chooses their vessel while the other selects their fragrance.  This part of the candle making process probably took the longest  because there are too many wonderful choices!!  They even have a vessel named “Wabi Sabi” which is dishwasher safe so that it can be used as a noodle bowl after your candle is used up!

After smelling about 20 fragrances and ogling a wall of color, I decided on the White Glow vessel (think pearly unicorns), with a soothing Lavender Thyme scent 😍. Alexi is pretty proud of his “Confetti” candle, which smells deliciously of Verbena + Lemongrass.  The candles are surprisingly potent, which is refreshing after burning so many other name brand duds that barely smell.

The candle pouring workshops are only about one hour long and are offered 3-5 times a day.  You can reserve online to guarantee a spot, and your ticket includes the vessel of your choice, any fragrance, the wick and the wax.  Candles need about 3 hours to cool after pouring, so you can either pop back in later or have your candle shipped.

A BYOB option exists at all locations (with a corking fee of $8), and most locations offer beer and wine for purchase. The space is great for so many things: date night, girls night, celebrations..and is even available for private events.

Can’t wait to get back for a girls’ day!  I think we will down champagne and then prance into every Georgetown shop while waiting for our candles to cool.
