To My Adventure Seekers

Pull your hungover self out of bed this weekend and get cozy with a rock wall.

This Friday Finds post is a bit different than the others- it’s completely unrelated to fashion…unless you count the way the harness awkwardly wraps around your legs and bunches your clothes up in a very unattractive way.  But hey- nature isn’t judging.

I’ve recently discovered the joys of rock climbing.  For those who are not afraid of heights, you must try it.  It’s a workout and a challenge– and a sense of accomplishment when you reach the top.  Very important note: don’t get a manicure before.

A great spot to try is Carderock, MD.  Fresh air, sunshine, and a view of the river.  The spot I tried along the river was a bit challenging (for beginners like myself), as there really wasn’t a whole lot to grip on to– but the challenge was fun.  And once you try letting go and realize that you will remain safely suspended in the air (if you have a good rock climbing buddy below), you gain the confidence to go forward.

I know not everyone has a rock climbing friend on hand, but there are meetup groups for this.  Try this link to Meetup.com for multiple rock climbing groups filled with fun outdoorsy people (those kind are always the nicest).

I only freaked out for a little bit in the beginning..”are you suuure you’ve got me??”, (#annoyingassbeginner) and now I have my helmet and shoes packed for my next excursion.
