Year-Round Stripes (Plus, Shop Vintage Belts)

I know…this outfit is SO very springy. But my adorable (and super fashionable) grandmother gifted me with this tastefully ruffled Ralph Lauren jacket..I figured I should enjoy this warm weather look before it’s time to pull out my beloved darker hues– you know, the kind worthy of a romp in a gloriously crunchy leaf pile (woohooo, fall, gimme!) Although, I won’t be giving up color entirely…pink is in for fall! Not that it would stop me if it weren’t..

Getting to the point– stripes were huge in the spring 2013 runway shows, but they are also in for fall…..and winter….and seemingly indefinitely. They just jump onto heavier fabric, in more muted shades.

Mix thick stripes with thin, and alternate direction, to avoid looking like a dizzying blob of lines– it creates enough contrast that the eye can appreciate the multitude of lines, without it looking overwhelming.
